Cumming Veneers are produced using the crosscut slicing
method which involves placing a flitch of timber into a machine, the machine
then uses a knife in order to slice off lengths of timber in paper-thin layers.
|
|
|
|
|
These paper-thin sheets can then be applied to various man made boards such as
Plywood, Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF), Chipboard and Hardboard to give the
appearance of more exotic timbers. By doing this to these man made boards it
makes them an ideal material for cabinet makers and craftsmen to make unique
furniture due to the workability, lightness and flexibility of this type of
product.

|
|
|
Using veneers in this way is the best way to ensure that finely figured timbers,
burls, fiddleback and birds eye effects, as well as minor species timbers are
able to be a more sustainable resource for generations to enjoy for years to
come.

Cumming Timbers & Veneers recommends our veneer
products as being suitable for use by craftsmen and
hobbyists, in the manufacture
and renovation of quality furniture, internal linings, fittings for recreational vehicles such as caravans and boats as
well as various other uses. However we do not recommend that our products be
used on
surfaces such as glass and metal and to do so would be at the discretion of the user.
